Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety standards, including OSHA, NFPA, state and local regulations, and company
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including hazard recognition, quality job briefings, stop-work authority,
- Identify, escalate, and support resolution of electrical and operational safety hazards.
- Ensure consistent application of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), energized work controls, and PPE requirements across
- Serve as the authorized switching authority for the site.
- Write, review, approve, and execute switching orders in accordance with site-specific switching procedures, OSHA
- Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities with the objective of optimizing plant performance
- Ensure compliance with O&M agreements, warranty requirements, and service-level commitments.
- Perform routine and periodic substation inspections, including but not limited to:
- Generator Step-Up (GSU) transformer
- Ground-Operated Air Breaks (GOAB)
- MV breakers, and disconnects
- Pad-mounted MV transformers serving the BESS infrastructure
- Perform advanced MV troubleshooting activities, including:
- Removal and inspection of deadbreak MV terminations for fault isolation and diagnostics
- Visual and mechanical inspection of MV terminations, elbows, bushings, and connectors
- Support corrective maintenance planning while ensuring work remains within Owner/O&M scope.
- Execute and oversee daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance tasks for Owner-scope equipment
- Perform site walks, visual inspections, and condition assessments of electrical, mechanical, environmental, and
- Maintain accurate daily operations logs, inspection test results (ITRs), switching records, and work orders.
- Coordinate site access and safety oversight for Tesla personnel performing Megapack maintenance.
- Monitor Tesla activities for safety and site compliance only.
- Serve as liaison for scheduling, access, alarms, and site conditions.
- Identify, document, and escalate safety hazards, near misses, and incidents.
- Support emergency response activities and Emergency Action Plan execution.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Direct supervision and oversight of:
- Subcontractors. Provide task direction, safety oversight, site orientation, and performance feedback
- Participate in environmental compliance programs, inspections, and administrative recordkeeping.
- Support and maintaining compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and
- Assist with environmental incident response and mitigation activities as required.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with medium-voltage electrical systems in utility-scale power generation,
- Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Experience with:
- Substation switching procedures
- MV equipment inspections and troubleshooting
- GSU and GOAB operations
- MV transformers, switchgear, and terminations
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, NESC, and MV safety practices.
- Ability to author and execute switching orders safely and accurately.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience performing IR thermography and DGA sampling.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms, maintenance reporting tools, and performance metrics.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex field operations across multiple locations.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead in a professional manner consistent with company values, policies, and vision.
- Must be able to work in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time.
- Must have the ability to travel for extended duration to remote project sites.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel or bend.
- Must be able to lift, push or pull 50 lbs. overhead repeatedly.
- 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction and ability to distinguish colors.
