Position Description
The Quality Inspector I is responsible for performing basic inspection activities on incoming, in-process, and finished products under direct supervision. This role supports the Quality team by ensuring products meet defined requirements and that inspection results are accurately documented.
This is an entry-level position focused on developing inspection skills, understanding quality standards, and building proficiency with inspection tools and documentation.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform basic incoming, in-process, and final inspections under guidance from Lead Inspector or QA Manager
- Use standard inspection tools (e.g., calipers, microscopes, gauges) to verify product characteristics
- Follow work instructions, inspection plans, and drawings to complete inspections
- Record inspection results and documentation accurately in real time (paper and/or PLEX)
- Verify that required documentation (e.g., material certs, COCs) is present and complete
- Identify and report nonconforming conditions to Lead Inspector or QA Manager
- Assist with segregation and identification of nonconforming material
- Maintain organized and accurate quality records
- Communicate quality concerns or discrepancies clearly to appropriate personnel
- Support basic quality activities such as document review or data entry
- Follow all company safety requirements, quality procedures, and work standards
- Participate in training and cross-training activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Basic understanding of measurement tools and inspection concepts (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to read basic drawings and follow written instructions
- Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, unit conversion)
- Basic computer skills (email, data entry, Word/Excel/PDFs)
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment
