Job Summary
Supervises the housekeeping department of a larger hotel, or two or more smaller hotels. Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of guest accommodations and public spaces. The Executive Housekeeper will lead the department so that employees perform their assignments in accordance with established brand and/or hotel standards. This individual will be an integral part of the hotel management team.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Executive Housekeeper's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create and distribute daily work assignments to ensure that all areas of the building are properly maintained in accordance with brand or hotel cleanliness standards.
- Ensure exceptional quality of work that meets company productivity standards.
- Hire, develop and retain housekeeping staff according to company policies and procedures.
- Effectively respond to guest complaints concerning housekeeping service.
- Consult with the General Manager and/or Assistant General Manager on employee or guest issues as necessary to make the best possible decisions.
- Work closely with the maintenance department by reporting maintenance issues found when inspecting rooms or public areas.
- Regularly inspects rooms every day to ensure quality standards are being met.
- Provides excellent customer service to guests and all team members at the hotel. Ensures the housekeeping employees also assist guests and co-workers in a positive and pleasant manner.
- Responsible for ensuring lost and found items are reported, itemized and stored securely.
- Checks any vacant rooms for condition and possible occupancy, and taking any actions needed to resolve to place rooms as available.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of storage and linen. Ensure linen and supplies are stocked and ready for use by staff.
- Reports and delivers valuable items to management as early as possible after the guest has checked out.
- Various other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of leading hotel housekeeping department
- Must have strong leadership experience to manage multiple priorities
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work any day of the week and work overtime as needed
- Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently
- Must be able to perform all functions of the Housekeeping department, as necessary
- Ability to effectively communicate with team and share feedback in a positive way
- Ability to respect the privacy of guests.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English. Additional languages a plus.
