Job purpose
The Manager is the on-duty head of operations of Strand Adventures.
Facility environment, safety, cleanliness, orderly execution of daily operations and cash control are all the responsibility of the Manager
Managers will be selected for quick problem-solving ability, thoroughness in customer service, ability to multi-task, ability to communicate with members of the public, work ethic, integrity, maturity, and reliability.
Managers should have some customer service experience and the attitude of “own-it-all” while employed at Strand Adventures.
Duties and responsibilities
Oversight of Daily Operations – Opening, startup of computer system and cash counter, daily operations at Point-of-Sale, organization of staff, cash counter closeout (z-out), bank deposits, cleaning and closing procedures.
Computer System Knowledge In-Depth - Booking Events, scheduling custom events, selling tickets, processing refunds, processing discounts, and ability to override other issues for customer satisfaction. This will require significant knowledge of our procedures and computer system to enter, modify, cancel and perform all general administration duties for daily events.
Participant Safety and Supervision – Oversee free play time in the various activity areas and curtail any participant behavior that violates SA Rules of Play or is otherwise unsafe. Backup for primary Guide Staff in the event of “let me talk to your manager”.
Facility Cleanliness and Neatness – At all times the Manager is ultimately responsible for overall facility cleanliness and should be prepared to do anything they would ask a staff member to do. (Trash removal and pickup, spot vacuuming, equipment tidiness). It is the responsibility of the Manger to ensure the entire facility is 100% ready for play each night at closing.
Equipment operation, movement – Managers should be familiar with all equipment, storage locations, operating procedures, locations of breakers and switches, etc.
Emergency management – knowledge of location of AED, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency procedures for any potential accident. Managers will be required to complete incident reports for any accidents that occur and ensure proper documentation.
Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED required, higher degree desirable
Specialized knowledge
Staff supervision and management experience highly desirable
Familiarity with Windows PC, Tablet/IPad operations (New hires will be trained on our specific software system upon hiring)
Familiarity with recreation operations – rock climbing, harness fitment, Ninja ™ activities, park operations all desirable
Customer Service experience desirable

Managers will supervise 3-7 employees inside the Strand Adventures building which consists of 23,000 sqft of recreational spaces spread across 3 floors and 7 main activity areas and 3 party rooms. Upper floors are accessible via stairs only. Access to all areas of the activities requires significant climbing and employees should be able to work half and full days primarily on their feet as they work from area to area. Shifts will be 4-10 hours in length with no designated breaks for Managers, and no specific stations to monitor. Manager is a roving position. Hours will be primarily on the weekends and evenings. Shift duration will be slightly longer than hours of operation to allow for facility cleaning and opening/closing procedures.
Physical requirements:
Employees should be able to work a full shift standing and walking. Employees should be able to climb through and to the top of a large playground if needed, and carry moderately heavy items (<40 lbs) as a routine part of their job.
Direct reports: 3-7 Primary Staff (Adventure Guide/Sr. Adv. Guide and Event Coordinator)
Wage/Salary:
Starting rate $18.00/hr for probationary 3 month period. After 3 months of demonstrated success in the position there is an automatic raise to $19.00/hr, evaluated for additional raises every 6 months.
Salary : $18 - $20
