Position Overview
The Cannabis Consultant is the heartbeat of the SOL experience. Responsible for guiding guests through their cannabis journey with warmth, professionalism, and accuracy, Cannabis Consultants ensure every visit reflects the SOL Standard — an elevated, educational, and hospitality-driven experience rooted in wellness and care.
This role combines expert product knowledge, sales performance, regulatory compliance, and luxury-level service. Consultants are expected to be cross-trained in all operational zones, including Point-of-Sale, Reception, Fulfillment, and Curbside, supporting all aspects of dispensary operations to maintain consistency, teamwork, and excellence. Consultants will be required to work all dispensary zones as directed by management. No consultant will be assigned exclusively to one zone or another.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & The SOL Standard
- Greet every guest with a genuine SOL Smile — high energy, positivity, and professionalism.
- Ensure all guests are greeted by First Name at least three times during their visit, per visit.
- Provide personalized consultations by understanding guest needs, wellness goals, and product preferences.
- Educate customers on cannabis products, effects, cannabinoid profiles, terpene benefits, consumption methods, dosage, and responsible use.
- Clearly explain SOL Moods and product categories to help guests make confident, informed selections.
- Ensure all guests know how to use all their products prior to departure.
- Uphold the five-star SOL Experience — ensuring every guest feels seen, supported, and valued.
- Maintain a luxury-level environment through cleanliness, organization, and ambiance.
- Adheres to the zone assigned to them per day and understanding the zone expectations.
- Ability to excel in all zones: Reception, Consultant, Pickup, Fulfillment, and Curbside.
- Ability to uphold 100% compliance in accordance with MCA and COMAR in all zones.
- Customer service at 120% every day. Above and beyond for every guest. (example holding the door, ensuring full ADA compliance and assistance, showing them how to use an accessory, answering all their questions with excitement)
- Assess customer needs with upmost importance.
Sales & Compliance
- Accurately perform all sales transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Verify customer identification and age in compliance with Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) and COMAR regulations.
- Verify medical patients’ certification, allotment, and eligibility in compliance with Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA) and COMAR regulations.
- Maintain accurate transaction and patient records, ensuring proper data entry in METRC and company systems.
- Meet or exceed sales goals while maintaining ethical and compliant sales practices.
- Balance and reconcile cash drawers with precision; immediately report any discrepancies to management.
- Ensure accurate payment capture and recording.
- Maintain 100% compliance in every transaction — accuracy and integrity are non-negotiable.
Operational Support & Cross-Training
- Be fully cross-trained to assist in all dispensary zones:
- Reception: Greeting and checking in customers, verifying documents, managing queues.
- Sales Floor / Consulting: Providing expert guidance and hospitality.
- Fulfillment: Picking, packing, and preparing orders with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Curbside: Delivering safe, compliant, and friendly customer hand-offs.
Cannabis Consultants are expected to rotate all zones. Cannabis Consultants cannot request preferred zones.
- Maintain a spotless, well-organized sales floor and back-of-house environment.
- Support opening and closing procedures as scheduled by management.
Education, Training & Growth
- Complete all mandatory MCA and SOL training, including annual Responsible Vendor Training (RVT), security, and operational workshops.
- Maintain up-to-date and high-level product knowledge through continuous education provided by SOL and vendor partners.
- Attend coaching sessions and team huddles focused on service, compliance, and brand excellence.
- Be proactive in learning new skills, systems, and service techniques to uphold the SOL culture of growth.
Compliance, Professionalism & Team Culture
- Adhere to all MCA COMAR regulations, company SOPs, and safety policies at all times.
- Model the SOL culture: positivity, collaboration, and a commitment to going above and beyond for guests and teammates.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all company operations, guest information, and proprietary data.
- Understanding of medical priority with guests.
- Represent SOL professionally in behavior, appearance, and communication — on and off the clock.
- Participate in the company’s culture of feedback, accountability, and excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of retail, hospitality, or customer service experience required; cannabis experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cannabis products, effects, and wellness applications (and a strong desire to continue education).
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in POS systems, technology platforms, and cash handling.
- Must be 21 years or older and able to pass a state-required background check.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High-end customer services abilities.

Pay: $20.00 - $20.01 per hour
