Position Overview:
We are seeking a Lead Marine Canvas CAD Design Engineer to join our growing team. This role will focus on using advanced 3D scanning and CAD software to digitally design boat covers, bimini tops, and related marine canvas products. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with 3D software and complex boat geometries, creating accurate, production-ready marine canvas designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate 3D scanning technology to capture boat geometries.
- Develop digital patterns and panel layouts for marine canvas products.
- Use CAD software (Rhino, MPanel, Grasshopper, Kangaroo) to create precise cover designs.
- Collaborate with the fabrication team to ensure accurate fit, function, and manufacturability.
- Maintain organized digital files, templates, and design documentation.
- Assist in improving workflows, automation, and digital-to-production processes.
- Support both custom, one-off projects and OEM production runs.
- Builds, mentors, and manages teams to achieve project and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Rhino, MPanel, Grasshopper, and Kangaroo preferred.
- Experience with marine canvas design, upholstery, or industrial fabric products a plus.
- Familiarity with 3D scanning hardware and software is desirable.
- Proficient in conceptualizing and manipulating 3D models.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
