The Generac Generator Service Technician will test /troubleshoot Generac systems, continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance service, troubleshooting, repairs, and emergency service on Generac Air-Cooled 10-26KW generators.
- Access and accurately identify all defective parts to be ordered.
- Understanding of combustion, gaseous air-cooled engines.
- Communicate information to customers and factory support team in an accurate, factual, and courteous manner.
- Ensure work scope has been performed and generator is operational.
- Write clear and concise service reports.
- Other Duties as assigned by supervision.
- Ability to replace batteries, filters and generator components as needed, per the manufacturer recommendations.
- Must have own mechanics and electrical tools including meters. (Specialty tools provided by company).
- Must be able to be on-call for emergency services.
- Must be a self-starter, work unsupervised and alone.
- Must be able to work in loud environments.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in electrical systems diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-5 years of field experience and knowledge of Generac air-cooled generators maintenance & repair, including automatic transfer switches.
- Generac Factory Certifications a plus.
- Current commercial driver’s license (CDL) and clean driving record required.
- Able to climb utility poles and work at great heights.
- Physically able to work with heavy tools and equipment at heights.
- Must be able to lift 70 pounds at a time to carry heavy cable.
