What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist position at STP?
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist in New Hartford CT to set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to produce precision parts for aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and experience reading blueprints and following engineering specifications.
Pay $25-32 an hour
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines to produce precision components.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Select proper tooling, speeds, and feeds to optimize production.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Adjust machine settings and offsets to maintain part tolerances.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 2 years of CNC machining experience (aerospace/medical preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T and engineering blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
