- Ability to accurately identify and order parts based on customer requests.
- Strong attention to detail for tax, freight, and special instructions.
- Familiarity with reference sources related to parts sales.
- Proficient in company computer systems and ordering processes.
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Prior experience in parts sales or a similar role within the heavy equipment industry.
- Knowledge of Caterpillar or similar machinery parts.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical or vocational training in automotive or heavy equipment parts preferred.
- Serve customers by identifying parts needs and processing orders promptly.
- Visualize and interpret customer requests accurately, including complex parts inquiries.
- Manage automatic backorders and ensure correct processing.
- Greet customers in person and by phone courteously and professionally.
- Refer customers to appropriate departments when necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of vendor items, mark-up, and freight charges.
- Collaborate with co-workers and contribute to a positive team environment.

- Experience with heavy equipment parts sales.
- Familiarity with vendor ordering systems and pricing structures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.

- Mental focus for accurate order entry and customer interaction.
- Primarily indoors at a parts counter within a dealership setting.

- May involve occasional exposure to warehouse or shop environments.
