Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment components, systems, and parts terminology
- Ability to read parts diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Proficiency with inventory management systems and point of sale software
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
- Prior experience in a dealership, equipment rental, or machinery service environment
- Familiarity with Caterpillar parts or similar OEM product lines
- Experience with counter sales or technical sales
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical school training in diesel technology, mechanics, or related fields preferred
- Assist customers at the parts counter, by phone, and via digital channels
- Identify correct parts using catalogs, diagrams, and internal systems
- Process orders, returns, and special requests accurately
- Maintain parts displays, stock levels, and inventory organization
- Coordinate with service technicians and internal departments to support repair operations
- Provide pricing, availability, and lead time information to customers
- Support warehouse functions such as pulling, staging, and shipping parts as needed
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for customers and team members
- Uphold Stowers Machinery’s standards for professionalism, safety, and customer service
- Assist in mentoring new parts personnel when requested
- 2 years of experience in parts sales, equipment service, or related fields
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Familiarity with Caterpillar SIS or similar parts lookup systems
- Ability to build strong customer relationships
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle parts of varying sizes
- Extended periods of standing at the counter
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Primarily indoor parts counter and warehouse environment
- Frequent interaction with customers, technicians, and vendors
- Exposure to noise, dust, and equipment typical of a machinery dealership
