Position Scope:
Drives tractor-trailer rated at least 50 tons capacity to deliver and pick up machines at customer job sites and Stowers locations. Loads and unloads heavy equipment and machinery while ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations.
Knowledge And Skill Requirements
- Ability to drive a standard transmission vehicle
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe hauling practices
- Ability to secure loads with chains and binders and perform periodic checks
- Sound judgment for safe driving in adverse weather and challenging conditions
- Basic mechanical skills for emergency repairs (e.g., tire changes, installing chains)
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members
- Experience instructing customers on equipment usage and maintenance
- Familiarity with heavy equipment types and handling procedures
- High school diploma or GED required
- Drive tractor-trailer to deliver and pick up machines at customer job sites and Stowers locations
- Load and unload heavy equipment and machinery
- Maintain current licenses and health card necessary to legally transport equipment
- Inspect tractor-trailer and related equipment for operational safety and reliability
- Complete shipping and receiving documents for Stowers and customer records
- Secure all loads with chains and binders; check periodically during transport
- Perform emergency repairs as needed
- Instruct customers on proper usage and maintenance of delivered equipment
- Follow all Company and customer safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly work area
- Respond to customer requests professionally and promptly
- Attend meetings, training, and activities as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- None; individual contributor role
- Three years of driving experience hauling heavy equipment
- Valid CDL driver’s license (or ability to obtain one)
- Dependability and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and strong integrity
- Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam, and drug screen
- Ability to lift 20–75 pounds occasionally
- Ability to wear required PPE (glasses, gloves, protective clothing, footwear)
- Ability to work under occasional pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Standard five-day schedule with daily overtime and occasional weekends
- Exposure to outdoor conditions, including adverse weather
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment
- Frequent travel to customer job sites and Stowers locations
