Quality Assurance Inspector, Heavy-Duty Trailer Production

If you spotted an out-of-spec weld showing up on more than one unit, would you trace it back to the source, document it clearly, and help trigger corrective action before a single trailer ships? If that sounds like you, read on.

Guard the integrity of our trailers by ensuring parts, sub-assemblies, and final builds meet all quality assurance standards, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.

• Be present on the line and in sub-assembly zones to monitor designated checkpoints set by the Quality Assurance Manager.
• Use the right tool for the right test: brake test machine, light tester, man lift, bumper jack, ABS tester, wrenches, and a tape measure.
• Compare results against drawings and standards; decide accept or reject and record each decision with your identifier and a clear reason for any rejection.
• Collaborate with management to initiate corrective actions when acceptance or reliability standards are not being met.
• Alert assembly line managers to out-of-spec trends, particularly when the issue appears on multiple units.
• Produce daily off-the-line status reports for all units exiting sub-assembly and final assembly.
• Deliver ongoing quality appraisals to leaders whose teams influence the final unit’s physical outcome.
• Work safely and productively; support team goals; follow company policies; other duties as assigned. Maintain excellent attendance and be willing to work mandatory overtime.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mandatory FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) test with biennial re-certification.
• Hands-on experience in quality inspection and quality control.
• Basic computer proficiency; fluent English (spoken and written). Bilingual capability is a plus.
• Clear communicator who works well with manufacturing hourly employees and leaders at every level.
• Mindset: detail-oriented, motivated, and organized.

• Structured orientation.
• Training on trailer specifications, engineering drawings, and QA checking procedures.
• Instruction on the use of measuring and test equipment relevant to your inspections.
• As needed, training for Utility or Golf Carts and Aerial Lifts (Genie, Wave, Manlifts).
