Assistant Parts Manager

What You'll Be Doing

The Assistant Parts Manager plays a key role in supporting the daily operations, growth, and profitability of the Parts Department. This position combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on parts sales and inventory management, ensuring exceptional service for both internal and external customers.

Working closely with the Parts Manager, the Assistant Parts Manager helps oversee inventory, sales performance, team development, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. This position serves as a leader within the department while actively assisting customers, supporting team members, and maintaining accurate and organized parts operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily parts department operations, including sales, inventory control, ordering, receiving, and expense management.
• Support department goals, budgets, forecasts, and profitability initiatives.
• Help monitor inventory levels, shortages, backorders, and expedite parts through alternate sourcing when needed.
• Ensure accurate recordkeeping and maintain audit-ready parts processes.
• Assist with vendor relationships and purchasing activities.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and outstanding customer service.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and training to parts team members.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of department personnel.
  
  

Customer Service & Sales

• Provide exceptional customer service in person, over the phone, and through electronic communications.
• Assist customers in identifying, researching, and purchasing parts and accessories for John Deere and other equipment.
• Maximize parts and aftermarket sales opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
• Support department promotions, marketing initiatives, and sales campaigns.
  
  

Inventory & Warehouse Management

• Receive, stock, organize, and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Monitor stock levels and recommend inventory adjustments to improve efficiency and availability.
• Ensure parts displays, showroom merchandising, and warehouse storage areas remain organized and professional.
• Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and annual audits.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse and parts facility.
  
  

Cross-Functional Support

• Work closely with service, sales, and operations teams to support customer needs and department objectives.
• Coordinate with technicians and service personnel to ensure timely parts availability.
• Support company initiatives and collaborate across locations when needed.
• Assist with parts deliveries, equipment pickup, and other operational support as required
  
  

Qualifications

• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks with accuracy and focus.
• Motivated leader with strong problem-solving, risk management, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficient with computers, spreadsheets, and budget creation; comfortable using business systems.
• 3 years of parts department management experience with a track record of meeting performance goals.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Dealership experience but is not required but preferred
  
  

Compensation is competitive and based on skill level, experience, and knowledge.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Business Administration or related field
  
  

Physical Requirement

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and occasionally climb while performing inventory, stocking, and counter activities.
• Requires use of hands for computer, phone, and handling parts or equipment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs., and occasionally heavier items with assistance.
• Requires close vision for reading part numbers, labels, and computer screens; hearing ability sufficient for communication in person, over the phone, and in active work environments.
• Must be able to work in office, warehouse, and shop environments, including exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
• Ability to travel to company locations or vendor sites as needed.
