Storyteller seeks a passionate, experienced, and motivated preschool educator. If you love working with children and want to make a difference in their lives and the community, this position is for you.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to meet requirements of Community Care Licensing.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Express and demonstrate appropriate early childhood principles and practices.
  • Maintain a pleasant, responsive, constructive attitude toward the program and establish healthy working relationships with participants' families.
  • Ability to complete written reports and required documentation timely and accurately.
  • Ability to safely supervise and teach children from three to five years of age.
  • Being bilingual (English/Spanish) is beneficial.
  • Sensitive to the needs of low-income families and cultural differences.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude toward students, parents, and staff.
  • Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish is desirable, but optional.
  • Developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 3 to 5 years old.
  • Ability to meet requirements of Community Care Licensing; pass and update as required, a general physical exam, TB skin test, fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and First Aid certification.


EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATES

  • Minimum of 12 units in ECE, including core courses. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with preschool children in an educational environment.
  • Child Development Teacher Permit is preferred.
  • Hold or obtain a valid Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR card and update as required (fees reimbursed).


SALARY

  • $24.00 - $29.00/hour, depending upon experience. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

Storyteller Children's Center is a therapeutic preschool providing high-quality early childhood education for children facing adverse challenges in Santa Barbara County and comprehensive support services for their families. We operate three fully licensed education centers serving children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age. We strive to prepare our students for kindergarten, increase resilience, and promote protective factors in children, caregivers, teachers, and the community. We focus on positive social-emotional outcomes for our students by providing culturally and developmentally appropriate learning environments and supporting parents in gaining new techniques and skills to help their role as their children’s first teachers.
