We are seeking a mission-driven Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support critical federal programs in a diverse, fast-paced work environment located in Linthicum, MD. Key Responsibilities:
Administer and optimize Linux-based environments across physical and virtual platforms
Design and implement automation with Ansible and custom scripts to streamline configuration, deployment, and maintenance tasks
Write and maintain custom Bash, Python, and shell scripts to support system processes, monitoring, and reporting
Ensure systems remain compliant with federal security guidelines and patching schedules
Manage system-level networking configurations (routing, DNS, VLANs, firewalls)
Monitor system and network performance, respond to incidents, and proactively prevent downtime
Document architecture, procedures, configurations, and custom automation solutions
Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to support secure, scalable, and maintainable systems
Qualifications:
Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance or higher (must be current and verifiable)
Experience: 5 years of experience in Linux Systems Administration in enterprise or government environments
Certifications:
Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2 (or equivalent, such as RHCE)
Ansible Automation Certification or demonstrated mastery of Ansible
Security , CASP , or CISSP (meeting DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher requirements)
Advanced proficiency in RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu systems
Strong experience with scripting languages including Bash, Python, and shell scripting — with the ability to automate tasks and solve real-world problems through code
Familiarity with STIGs, DISA requirements, and secure system configurations
Working knowledge of system-level networking (IP tables, static routes, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
