Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- 2 years Experience in the medical field with direct patient care. Preferred
- 2 years Experience as a Ophthalmic Assistant. Preferred
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and medical staff. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to use Microsoft office products. (Preferred proficiency)
- Ability to work within Electronic Medical record. (Preferred proficiency)
- Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) is preferred within 24 months of hire.
- Assist physician in taking patient histories.
- Preforms specified diagnostic tests and procedures within the scope of certification.
- Preforms instrument maintenance in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Provides patient education on tests, procedures, and diagnosis.
- Coordinates communication with patients regarding their care to include phone calls, emails, faxes, and letters.
- Schedules appointments with appropriate providers and documents requests, reports received, and approvals.
- Compiles medical work up results for provider review.
- Writing, editing, and filing patient medical records.
- Complete in Basket tasks, including medication refills, schedule appointments and complete requests.
- Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
- Performs other duties as assigned
