About the Role
A leading utility-scale solar developer is hiring its first dedicated software/data engineer to support the full project lifecycle with geospatial data, automation, and internal tooling. This company develops large-scale solar assets and is expanding into adjacent businesses, including repurposing sites for data centers and other power-intensive applications.
The company now needs someone who can build software, streamline workflows, integrate data systems, and make geospatial insights accessible across Development and EPC teams.
This is a high-impact, high-ceiling role within a growing team of ~25 people, ideal for someone early in their career who is sharp, technical, and eager to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Software Data Engineering
- Build internal software tools that support solar development and EPC workflows.
- Automate GIS processes and convert geospatial inputs into actionable insights.
- Integrate and manage data across Snowflake, AWS, GCP, and internal systems.
- Streamline backend processes and improve system architecture.
GIS / Geospatial Support
- Support stakeholders with mapping, siting, and spatial analysis needs.
- Work closely with the existing GIS Analyst to enhance GIS capabilities.
- Improve geospatial data availability across teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner directly with Development, EPC, and Operations teams.
- Report to a technical lead who manages software/data for the broader business.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to building their internal development culture.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Must-Haves
- 1–3 years of professional experience in software, data, or geospatial work.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving mindset.
- Coding proficiency (Python, SQL).
- US Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or similar.
Nice-to-Haves
- GIS experience (Esri, QGIS, geospatial libraries).
- Snowflake, AWS, or GCP familiarity.
- Experience at small software/tech companies (sub-50 employees), geospatial startups, or companies like Cesium, Intersect, Paces.AI, or Anderson Optimization.

- Fast learner, curious, and willing to build new skills.
- Comfortable working in a lean, startup-like environment.
- Able to interact with senior leadership, including the COO.
