About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Health & Safety Engineer to support health, safety, and industrial hygiene initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive compliance, reduce workplace risks, prevent incidents, and support continuous improvement of safety programs.
The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to workplace safety, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments to foster a culture of safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain systems that drive regulatory compliance, injury reduction, and risk prevention.
- Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams to support strategic and tactical health and safety initiatives.
- Analyze injury and incident data to identify trends and support focused injury reduction efforts.
- Provide technical health and safety expertise to proactively address workplace hazards and risks.
- Participate in incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Lead industrial hygiene activities, including exposure monitoring, sampling programs, recordkeeping, and hazardous material management.
- Support industrial ventilation programs to ensure employee exposure levels remain within acceptable limits.
- Evaluate, select, and manage personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Assist with health and safety audits and compliance assessments.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Develop, review, and facilitate health and safety training programs.
- Collaborate with employees and leadership to identify, evaluate, and minimize workplace risks.
- Track safety metrics, maintain databases, and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Support implementation of human performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current with health and safety best practices and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 1 year of professional Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with OSHA standards and industrial or manufacturing operations.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Health & Safety programs.
- Industrial Hygiene experience, including exposure monitoring and sampling.
- Experience with behavior-based safety programs.
- Experience conducting ergonomic assessments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with Power BI or advanced Excel analytics.
