What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Analyst position at Storm Search?
The Accounting Analyst supports inventory accounting activities on a consolidated basis. This role works closely with regional service and distribution centers, subsidiaries, and field associates to ensure accurate inventory valuation and timely reporting of all related accounting activity. The position reports to the Inventory Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the company’s inventory costing methodology (primarily moving average cost) and its impact on valuation.
- Partner with field associates to resolve costing discrepancies, reconcile account adjustments, and collect required documentation.
- Prepare and reconcile corporate excess and obsolete (E&O) calculations; review subsidiary calculations for accuracy.
- Complete LIFO computations and reconciliations, including review of subsidiary-level processes and results.
- Create and update inventory process documentation, job aids, and training materials to support consistent practices across the organization.
- Prepare inventory-related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide audit support and respond to requests from internal and external auditors.
- Assist with internal and external reporting requirements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 1–2 years of accounting experience, preferably in cost or general accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of financial systems, statements, and reporting.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills; ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems such as SAP, BPC, or Blackline.
- Familiarity with internal control procedures and the ability to design and maintain effective controls.
Salary : $55,000 - $70,000
