Position Summary
The Elementary Music Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction for students in grades 25. This position fosters a love of music while building foundational skills in singing, rhythm, movement, and musical understanding. The teacher creates an inclusive classroom environment, supports diverse learners, and collaborates with staff and families to enhance student learning.
Essential Responsibilities
Student Learning & Achievement
- Plans and delivers engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction for students in grades 25.
- Teaches foundational music skills, including singing, rhythm, movement, listening, and the use of instruments.
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Demonstrates strong content knowledge in elementary music education.
Relationships & Culture
- Creates a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Establishes clear expectations and uses effective classroom management strategies to promote a productive learning environment.
- Builds respectful and collaborative relationships with students, staff, and administration.
Family & Community Engagement
- Provides opportunities for family involvement through performances and school events.

Qualifications
- Valid Iowa Teaching License
- K-8 Music - 144
Terms of Employment
Employment terms, salary, benefits, and evaluation procedures are established by the Storm Lake Community School District Board of Education and applicable agreements. Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and compliance with district policies and state and federal regulations.
