We are seeking a passionate and energetic Teacher Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in delivering engaging educational experiences, assist with behavior management, and provide individualized support to students with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a positive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Support students with special education needs, including those with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges, by providing behavioral management and physical assistance as needed.
- Collaborate with other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique requirements.
- Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication techniques to facilitate effective communication with students who have communication difficulties.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a safe, organized, and stimulating environment conducive to learning and development.
- Assist with classroom support activities such as lesson planning, curriculum development, and documenting student progress.
- Handle confidential information responsibly while supporting students’ educational and emotional needs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in early childhood or preschool settings, preferably within special education or Montessori environments.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management strategies for students with disabilities.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or behavioral disorders is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn is a plus.
- Strong communication and writing skills to effectively document student progress and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to provide physical assistance for students requiring additional support within the classroom setting.
- Familiarity with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines and best practices in inclusive education.
- Childcare or preschool experience, including toddler care or Montessori methods, is preferred.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information professionally.
