Hours: Monday – Friday 11:30 am to 8 pm and rotating Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm
Pay: $23.92 - $27.73 DOE
OPERATING HOURS:
Open Monday- Friday 5:15am – 8:00pm – Saturday 10:30am – 4:00pm (subject to change based on Division needs).
Overtime based on Division needs.
Attendance of various mandatory meetings and training as required.
Must be flexible and versatile for shift change and/or coverage.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision the Dispatcher will ensure the efficient operation of Tuolumne County Transit services, which may include extra public transportation services requested by Tuolumne County staff and Storer. The dispatch position is considered a supervisory position to front line employees and strict confidentiality rules apply. Dispatch “assumes a management role during non-normal business hours”.
Dispatch duties include providing excellent customer service, accurately scheduling trips, efficient routing, operates communication equipment, scheduling software system, a web-based software and tracking system, GPS software, system for senior client records, Google sheets, etc. Ability to trouble shoot issues with dispatch terminal software systems. Optimal monitoring of routes in service and road conditions. Responds to requests for service promptly and provides a variety of information to passengers and the public. Communication is essential. Dispatchers must be clear and effective using two-way radio, telephone, and verbal and written instructions. Dispatchers must be able to read, comprehend and retain information. Rely on accessible information, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Ensure duties are completed accurately and delivered of a high quality in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Provide dispatching, and routing services to seniors, disabled individuals as certified under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and all public, dispatch fixed routes, micro transit, and paratransit vehicles as appropriate.
- Create, maintain, and monitor computerized daily schedules for dispatching and routing transit services; modify and update to improve services constantly.
- Monitor computer and two-way radio for information regarding scheduling issues and field situations; notify Safety Team and management of any situation requiring attention.
- Receive, screen, maintain, and update rider applications.
- Input and report issues with vehicles to maintenance.
- Assign drivers to various types of driving assignments
- Maintain and file records. Assist in the completion of required reporting.
- Provide route information to the public.
- Collect fares from routes, ensuring accuracy and records of each transaction
- Assist in record keeping and distributing all passes, and tickets.
- Maximize on-time performance by supervising reservations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
· Proper English grammar, punctuation, composition, vocabulary, and oral expression.
· Methods and techniques of delivering public transportation and paratransit services to seniors, disabled persons certified under the ADA, and all public.
· Methods and techniques of dispatching commercial passenger vehicles.
· Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers.
· Principles and procedures of record keeping.
· Dispatching techniques with the use of two-way radio systems for communicating and receiving information. Use of scheduling software.
· Thorough understanding of service area and best possible routing (streets, landmarks, and geography of Tuolumne County).
· Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations governing public transportation for seniors and individuals certified under the ADA.
· Professionality and productivity work with others as a team.

· Must follow HIPPA guidelines, company policies, and training regarding company and public privacy. Confidentiality is of the most importance due to a wide range of personal information obtained.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum of one (1) year as a commercial driver preferred, but not
required.
· Experience supervising employees
· Subject to DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing.
· High School Diploma or GED.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
· Class “B” Commercial License with and passenger endorsement (will train)
· GPPV (General Public Para-Transit Vehicle) certificate and VTT (Verification of Transit Training) certificate or ability to obtain.
· DOT (Department of Transportation) medical card
· First aid and CPR certified (will train).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard office equipment and a commercial vehicle.
· Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve or store office equipment or files and perform commercial driving duties.
· Clarity of vision at varying distances to be able to monitor office visitors, bus drivers, and to operate a computer and other office equipment.
· Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
· Physical ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds, as well as bend, stoop, push/pull, twist and turn.
· Physical ability to walk on uneven terrain and board Paratransit / Transit buses.
· Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
***This position is a “safety sensitive” position which is subject to all FTA D&A testing requirements.
