The purpose of this role is to drive sales and profitability by executing the labor productivity strategy and providing support across Stop & Shop. This role provides targeted labor guidance across 4 regions, 20 districts, and corporate support functions such as Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Strategy. With oversight of $1.4B in direct labor budgeting and forecasting, this role ensures labor strategies support cost containment, operational efficiency, and long-term performance improvement.
This position also manages labor systems including Kronos (workforce management) and Standards Pro (labor standards database), supporting over 50,000 associates and 1,000 pay rules. This role advises brand leadership on labor impacts and provides actionable plans for execution. This position partners closely with Finance, HR Labor Relations, and Continuous Improvement teams to develop and implement labor strategies that support both operational execution and cost optimization.

What you bring to the table:
Labor Productivity Management
- Lead, promote, and execute labor profitability and management strategy aligned with business goals and evaluate for continuous improvement
- Liaise with 3 rd party providers to implement industry standardized best practices, opportunities and strategies as needed
- Serve as the primary liaison for all labor-related communications and initiatives across the brand
- Advise leadership on risks, impacts, and opportunities for decisions affecting direct labor expenses
- Lead collaboration across departments to execute labor strategies tied to new processes, technologies, or store models
Financial Forecasting & Budgeting
- Lead the annual labor budget process and guide forecasts aligned with business growth and unit sales.
- Partner with Finance to review and align period projections, budgets, and labor assumptions.
- Provide regular reporting to leadership on labor KPIs, such as average hourly rate (AHR), items per labor hour (IPLH), wage %, efficiency %, and sales trends
- Conduct pro forma analyses for new stores, remodels, and replacements, including wage and productivity trends
- Support labor negotiations through wage modeling and cost impact analysis
- Lead the enterprise scheduling strategy across all departments, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and labor optimization
- Oversee the Kronos Payroll system and configuration, ensuring correct pay rule application and associate compliance
Team Leadership & Talent Development:
- Train and support stores in adopting scheduling best practices, collaborating with ADUSA and internal teams
- Guide and develop specialists and provide strategic oversight across markets and brands
- Lead the industrial engineering team in modeling labor for new stores, initiatives, and process changes
- Oversee the development and maintenance of standardized labor forecasting using Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) methodologies
- Drive best practices and continuous improvement across the brand
- Ensure labor standards are consistently applied, measured, and communicated across all departments
What you bring to the table:
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in labor productivity modeling, workforce management, and scheduling systems (Kronos)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years' experience
- Experience supervising direct reports and influencing indirect reports
- Preferred experience in Grocery Retail and understanding of the industry
- Strong leadership in cross-functional teams, strategic planning, and labor cost optimization
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong financial acumen and able to utilize data to identify opportunities
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive change and develop and define initiatives
- Highly motivated, results-oriented, and a self-starter
