Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities and promoting their independence. You will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those you serve, ensuring their safety and well-being while fostering a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support in various settings including group homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments.
- Monitor clients' health by taking vital signs and observing changes in behavior or condition.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring adherence to prescribed medication administration schedules.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote socialization and enhance quality of life.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties as needed.
- Support clients with mobility assistance, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Document client progress and report any concerns to supervisors or healthcare professionals as required.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification is required.
- Experience working in group homes or other caregiving settings such as nursing homes or hospice care is highly valued.
- Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in client conditions effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or Alzheimer’s care is beneficial.
- Knowledge of home health practices and caregiving techniques that promote independence and dignity for clients.
