Duties

  • Set up CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and calibration for each job.
  • Program CNC equipment using G-code, M-code, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing), and Mazatrol controls to produce precise parts.
  • Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences.
  • Operate manual machining tools including grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, hand tools, and power tools for secondary operations or fine adjustments.
  • Perform precision measurement during manufacturing using measurement instruments like coordinate measuring machines (CMM), dial indicators, and precision measuring instruments to verify part quality.
  • Conduct machine setup procedures efficiently while adhering to safety protocols and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Carry out CNC quality inspections by inspecting finished parts against specifications using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards and measurement tools.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, inspection results, and machine maintenance logs to ensure traceability and continuous process improvement.

Skills

  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code; experience with CNC G-code programming is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar for interpreting designs; experience with CAM programming for toolpath generation.
  • Familiarity with Mazatrol conversational programming for certain CNC machines.
  • Skilled in blueprint reading with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately for machining operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools, tooling setup, machine calibration, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Experience operating CNC lathe and milling machines; manual machining skills are a plus for secondary operations.
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to interpret GD&T specifications to ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize productivity while maintaining safety standards.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes such as grinding, boring, turning, milling, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
  • Familiarity with machine setup procedures including tooling selection and fixture installation; experience with grinders is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with excellent manual dexterity; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
