Research Support Assistant
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Laboratory experience in molecular biology or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in the life sciences. Experience with protein purification, cloning, PCR and other molecular biology assays.
Brief Description of Duties:
This position will be responsible for carrying out various laboratory duties including assisting with experiments, maintaining inventory, and maintaining records. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills, the ability to work in a team, and ability to train and mentor undergraduates, graduate students and others in the lab. They will be a reliable resource with strong organizational and time-management skills. Should pay good attention to detail and document all activities to a high level of detail. Duties will include (but not limited to):
- Carry out lab duties such as preparing media, maintain tissue culture stocks and other common reagents including proteins and DNA, RNA.
- Maintain lab inventory and equipment and ordering reagents.
- Assist with experiments and ongoing projects.
- Maintain a scientific record of all common procedures in the lab and participate in lab meetings.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, health, safety and other regulatory procedures.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
