Anticipated Pay Range
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $45,372 - $53,060 / year.
The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Stony Brook Medicine the Patient Care Coordinator receives patients in the Radiology Department for exams and procedures and performs all duties associated with the throughput of the patients in an efficient and professional manner.
Duties of a Patient Care Coordinator may include but are not limited to:
- Greet and escort patients from the waiting area, coordinate assignments and schedules with supervisory staff, and provide assistance to dressing areas and designated exam rooms. Support safe patient transfers involving wheelchairs, stretchers, and exam tables within the Department of Radiology Ambulatory Care Pavilion
- Deliver materials and supplies to various departmental and hospital locations
- Maintains record of patient charts and release to authorized hospital personnel
- Support activities that promote efficient patient throughput
- Maintain inventory of supplies and determine ordering needs. Manage exam and storage rooms to ensure availability of required materials and compliance with departmental goals and regulatory requirements
- Provide customer service, referring physicians, radiologists, and hospital staff
- Answer the department’s telephones in a timely and courteous manner while demonstrating willingness to help at all times
- Assess and respond to section needs related to patient flow and care, ensuring efficient processes and effective management of assigned clinical areas and responsibilities
- If needed, will cover different areas within radiology
- Teach appropriate hospital personnel in accordance with the guidelines and teaching objectives of the department
- Enforce and educate all MRI safety rules, policies and procedures, and protocols
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree and at least 2 years of experience in a medical healthcare office setting and/or hospital clerical or, in lieu of degree, at least 4 years of medical healthcare office setting and/or hospital clerical experience
- Able & willing to administer CPR if needed
- Able to multi-task and pay close attention to detail
- Physically able to push & assist patients in & out of stretchers & wheelchairs
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work as an efficient team member and have superior written and expressive communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree
- Radiology experience
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Knowledge of hospital & radiology computer systems
