Stony Brook Southampton Hospital as part of Stony Brook Medicine provides direct access to the highest level of academic-based medical care. Located in the heart of the village of Southampton, two hours from New York City, the hospital provides healthcare services to a diverse community of year-round residents, second homeowners and vacationers. The population, about 75,000 in the winter months, increases sharply to more than 300,000 in the summer. Responsibilities
- Performs routine tasks associated with maintenance, repair, installation, and alteration of basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical jobs.
- Performs preventive, casualty, and corrective maintenance on equipment.
- Assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Troubleshooting machinery and performing routine preventative maintenance.
- Reading, interpreting, and following instructions and operation manuals.
- Maintaining a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery.
- Cleaning, repairing and installing equipment and parts as needed.
- Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Complying with health and safety regulations.
- Performing general maintenance work on buildings as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Active New York State Driver's License.
- Ability to read and write in order to understand equipment operating instructions and maintain logs and records of work performed and to interpret non-complex blueprints and manufacturer's specifications.
- Requires approximately one-year on-the-job experience.
- Knowledge and ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Strong computer skills.
- Good troubleshooting skills.
- Trade or vocational school graduate preferred.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and to lift objects weighing up to fifty pounds.
- Occasional exposure to excessive noise from machinery and to minor electrical shocks or burns from equipment.
- Physical dexterity.
