Assistant Director of Radiology
POSITION SUMMARY:
Train technologists to perform diagnostic and fluoroscopic medical radiography examinations. Manages and maintains RIS/PACS. Oversee day-to-day operations of the Radiology department and offsite locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Candidate will be expected to maintain payroll, staffing schedules, coordinate contracts, oversee purchasing.
- Participate in QA and CQI programs.
- Assist with department P&P, and run departmental statistics, and participate in hiring new staff. They will also assist in teaching and training new hires and expected to master the EMR for SBSH & SBM, PACs, DocPanel and Life Image.
- Participates in regulatory inspections and assists with TJC, ACR, MQSA, and DOH accreditation and ensures all hospital guidelines are met.
- Prepares performance appraisals and maintains technologist employee files.
- Collaborate with modality leads to ensure preventative maintenance is scheduled on all imaging and breast center equipment.
- Assists with image and report (current and prior) storage, movement, and retrieval.
- Candidate will oversee operations of all off sites including East Hampton, Hampton Bays, Ellen Hermanson Breast Center with responsibilities at each location as needed.
- Candidate will be part of a leadership team for Radiology. Duties will include acting as a liaison in digital imaging and related activities.
- Will work to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM data into the PACS system and network transmission, RIS validation and exception handling.
- Investigate, identify, and prepare proposals to solve operation problems.
- Works to develop operating standards, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for monitoring the operating budget and works in cooperation with the Radiology Director to identify present and future needs for radiology equipment procurement and installation.
- Oversees activities of equipment vendors in service, installation, and implementation of systems.
- Prepares reports for administration as directed.
- Attends and participates i departmental and hospital meetings as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of a degree, more than the minimum requirement of 5 years of experience, provided that the candidate commits to obtaining a Bachelor's degree within five (5) years of hire.
- Graduate of a Radiology Program.
- NYSDOH License.
- ARRT.
- Experience with PAC/RIS Systems including DICOM and scanning protocols.
- At least five years of experience as a Radiology Technologist.
Demonstrated computer knowledge including use of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Powepoint)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree.
- 10 years experience as a Radiology Technologist.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or positioning and transferring of patients.
- Lifts supplies and equipment, moves heavy equipment.
- Subject to Electrical and Radiation Hazards.
As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.
