What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Supervisor-Cardiology position at Stony Brook Administrative Services?
We are looking for a qualified member to enhance our team at North Suffolk Cardiology as a Medical Assistant Supervisor. The applicant will work 5 days a week, Mon-Fri, between the hours of 8:30-4:30, for a total work week of 40 hours.
Essential Job Functions:
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses in providing patient care. They will be responsible for patient flow, and efficiency of the floor.
Responsibilities:
- Medical Assistant (MA) and Lead MA and the educator MA scope of practice.
- Assist with and update policy and procedure handbook/policy.
- Review GEMMS, SBCM email.
- Schedule and conduct interviews. Encourage peer interviewing.
- Monitor productivity, speed and accuracy, with quarterly review of poor performers, at all locations.
- Assist with triage calls as needed and discuss with APP.
- Conducts performance evaluations and performance improvement plan.
- Coordinate continuing education and routine educational activities.
- Payroll - reviewing and approving assigned staff time and attendance.
- Oversee cover my meds prior authorization (nuclear).
- Monitor cell phone adherence, in accordance with SBCM policy.
- Scheduling of all medical assistants for all locations, daily assignments, vacation and sick call coverage.
- Assist with disability forms, workman compensation, FMLA, SCAT forms and any other forms.
- Ensure all MA has employee ID displayed with good visibility daily.
- Monitor inventory orders and ensure orders are placed in a timely manner.
- Review all MD and APP room assignments for accuracy and functionality.
- Ensure patient flow is continuous and timely.
- Coordinate OSHA compliance with OSHA coordinator.
- Creates and encourages team work.
- Maintains patient confidentially consistent with SBCM HIPPA policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned, including daily tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years medical assistant experience and/or Lead Medical Assistant or assistant supervisor experience preferred.
- EKG experience required.
- Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Must have strong leadership skills.
- CPR certified.
Physical Demands:The job may require from time to time to lift light to moderate amounts of weight (e.g., boxes of medical/facility supplies). Heavy computer use required
