Overview
This is a Staff Data Engineer role within the Global Market Data Department at StoneX. This role will actively collaborate with engineering lead for delivery of ongoing market data projects. As a contributing senior market data engineer the role will assist in architecting, designing and implementing components within our cloud data platform for ongoing operations and new market data projects.
Responsibilities
- Actively contribute toward development, data quality improvement, testing and implementation of ongoing projects.
- Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows. Aware of current and emerging technology tools and their benefits. Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete data transformation, data storage and data distribution.
- Strong focus on innovation and enablement, contributes to designs to implement data pipelines for structured and unstructured data and deliver effective and efficient technical solutions.
- Ability to understand capital market business problems, study and transform data as needed.
- Able to play role of solution analyst and break down complex problems into actionable steps.
- Contribute toward improving data quality of StoneX strategic data assets.
- Oversee the day to day operations of the junior data team members, participate in scrum and sprint rituals.
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering and/or Production Support across large enterprises.
- 4 years of hands on Data Engineering or Software Development experience in capital markets / trading industry
- Strong understanding of Enterprise architecture patterns, Object Oriented & Service Oriented principles, design patterns, industry best practices
- Foundation knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms and Designing for performance.
- Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of C# and PySpark.
- Experience with Azure databricks desired.
- Experience in database technology like MSSQL or Postgres or MySQL and one of key value and document databases like MongoDB, DynamoDB, Casandra
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to work and lead in an Agile methodology environment
