What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equine Nightwatch position at Stonestreet Farm?
Stonestreet Farm has a full-time opening in our Midway, KY Broodmare & Layup division for an experienced Nightwatch staff person. Full-time positions include a comprehensive benefit package.
This position is Monday - Friday 4pm - midnight and Saturday 7pm - 7am.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Monitor horses in barns and outside in fields and paddocks
- Monitor herd health
- Monitor and alert proper personnel to signs of impending foaling or other horse distress.
Occasionally:
- Bring mares and foals in and out of the barn
- Cleaning and bedding stalls, feeding, brushing, picking feet, clipping, apply dressings to feet/legs, etc.
- Hold horses for outside vendors (vet/farrier)
- Assist with medication administration
- Muck stalls and keep barn areas clean interior and exterior
- Should be able to climb stairs/ladders, lift 30-60 lbs on regular basis
- Employee should be able to understand and communicate basic instruction in English
