Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility to enhance comfort and independence
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; document findings accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control procedures and aseptic techniques
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans, including specialized needs like Alzheimer's or dementia care
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assistive devices to safely transfer patients
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, especially those with behavioral health or developmental disabilities
Experience
- Prior experience working in medical settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation
- Experience with specialized care areas including critical care (ICU), emergency medicine, post-acute care, hospice, or behavioral health environments
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient monitoring and care procedures
- Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining patient safety
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous
