Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote independence.
- Implement treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met effectively.
- Support pediatric occupational therapy sessions focused on childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder interventions.
- Help facilitate therapy activities that improve motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive functions for clients of all ages.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and modify care strategies tailored to each client’s needs.
- Ensure accurate documentation of care activities, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Assist with patient transport within facilities or to external appointments while maintaining safety protocols through manual handling techniques.
Experience
- Prior experience working in inpatient settings such as hospitals or skilled nursing facilities is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience in outpatient clinics or home health environments demonstrating adaptability across care settings.
- Proven background working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, or in pediatric occupational therapy programs.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medical imaging relevant to occupational therapy practices.
- Familiarity with care documentation standards and effective communication with clients and caregivers.
- Experience assisting with treatment plan implementation for clients with autism or other childhood developmental delays is a plus.
- Strong understanding of occupational health principles and skilled nursing procedures related to patient care and safety.
