Job Requirements:
- Plan, evaluate, implement and continuously improve all aspects of collection functions and processes
- Assist in formulation of specific collection objectives and achievement of same
- Work closely with Financial Consultants to respond to collection concerns
- Perform collection duties, including but not limited to statements, letters, and phone calls.
- Receive and post payments on accounts receivable
- Audit accounts to ensure Secondary Insurance is loaded to RCM system to guarantee timely billing and adjustments per CMS guidelines
- Submit and manage collection agency referrals
- Participate in monthly A/R reviews with focus facilities
- Follow up on high priority balances to ensure the facility’s continued effort and report to Financial Consultant, Reimbursement Manager, Director of Reimbursement, Controller, and CFO if actions are not being taken
- Manage referrals to attorneys, Collection Agency, and takes approved claims to Small Claims court representing the facility
- Manage IRS and AG reporting notices
- Review proposed write offs to ensure all required collection activities are complete before processing
- Review Medicare A Coinsurance write offs to confirm all required documentation is complete per CMS regulations
- Monitor discharge procedures due to non-payment
- Travel as needed for priority facility A/R reviews
- Resource for Financial Consultants to help find solutions to collections issues
- Review, update, and maintain all collection letters and forms for facility use
- Maintain Federal and State compliance with all regulations
- Business degree with minimum of 9 hours of accounting
- Working knowledge of common office machines is necessary
- Computer literacy required with emphasis on high level working knowledge of Excel
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary
