Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day food service operations, ensuring meals meet dietary requirements, are of high quality, and are prepared in compliance with health regulations.
- Team Development: Lead and supervise the dietary team, including cooks, aides, and nutrition staff. Provide training, mentorship, and performance management to maintain a high standard of food preparation and service.
- Resident Engagement: Ensure meals meet the nutritional needs and preferences of residents. Respond to dietary requests and concerns, fostering a positive dining experience.
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with clinical teams to plan menus that adhere to nutrition and dietary guidelines while accommodating individual resident needs, including special diets.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all food service operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain safe food handling practices and conduct regular kitchen inspections.
- Inventory & Budgeting: Manage food inventory and ordering. Maintain cost control practices to meet budgetary guidelines while ensuring quality service.
- Health & Safety: Promote a safe, sanitary kitchen environment. Ensure proper storage and handling of food, maintaining cleanliness throughout food prep and dining areas.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with clinical teams to monitor and ensure the quality of the meals served aligns with residents' health needs and preferences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in food service management, nutrition, or a related field (preferred)
- Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) or eligibility for certification (required)
- 2 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment
- Strong knowledge of nutrition standards, food safety regulations, and dietary requirements
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly
