The primary responsibility for this position is building StoneAge tools and equipment. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude with a high attention to detail. Assembly Technicians will build and troubleshoot top quality products in an efficient and accurate manner. We expect our team members to be constantly looking for improvements in quality, processes, production, efficiency, cleanliness, and personal growth. This position is required to follow StoneAge safety guidelines to assemble product that will meet or exceed StoneAge and Customer specifications. To excel at this position, an Assembly Technician must be accountable for themselves, including their performance, attitude, and their participation in our high performing team. The Assembly Technician shall exemplify and foster the StoneAge OWN IT mindset, values, and self-leadership principles.

Assembly Technician will have the desire to constantly meet new challenges and improve how their daily work is completed. They must be coachable, trainable, hardworking, honest, dependable, and professional. They must be team-oriented and be able to maintain a positive attitude while working in a high-paced environment.

This position reports to the Assembly Lead or Manufacturing Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work closely with Assembly Team members to complete daily requirements.
  • Responsible for assembly and testing of StoneAge products (tools and AE), Automated Equipment packaging, shipment palletization, and package installs.
  • Follow scheduling priorities to optimize productivity and efficiency in the assembly area.
  • Communicate any deadline issues to Lead or Manager and Production Coordination immediately.
  • Communicating any supply or tool needs to Lead or Manager.
  • Actively learning StoneAge product and the assembly process, asking questions to gain knowledge.
  • Meet or exceed scan percentage goal.
  • Interface with other departments to assure that all assembly commitments are met.
  • Communicate to their Lead, Engineering and QC any design issues to ensure proper tolerances, assembly of products, and updated drawings.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Ensure quality control on all assemblies.
  • Ensure that StoneAge QMS procedures are followed.
  • Assist Sales and Purchasing in training customers and suppliers on assemblies during visits.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees. Communicate and interact effectively with management and team members at all levels through both verbal and written means.

  • Assist the engineering department as needed to ensure systems are tested and shipped as scheduled.
  • Ability to flow back and forth between projects while maintaining departmental quality standards.
  • Complete daily maintenance on machines.
  • Keep clean and tidy workstation, storing tools when not in use.
  • Hold yourself accountable for high performance and quality work. “Own it” mentality.

  • Perform other duties and assist other departments as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Expectations of Team Member:
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed drawings, schematics, customer specifications and test procedures. As well as the ability to teach others to do the same.
  • Mastered 1-16 requirements on Assembly Competence Matrix.
  • Ability to safely run, maintain, and repair pumps and other equipment, as well as train and support others.
  • Should have a high level of mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Possess dexterity skills, good hand and eye coordination, to work with hand tools, test equipment and computers.
  • Must understand manufacturing process and be able to effectively troubleshoot problems.
  • Communicate time off requests to your Lead, allowing time for planning.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Ability to apply systematic problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand basic types of documentation.
  • Ability to learn and be proficient with various software packages.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Flexible and effective under changing conditions and with different tasks, responsibilities, and people.
OTHER INFORMATION
  • An Assembly Tech is expected to possess ownership mentality and be a Leader in the following areas but not limited to: Safety, Housekeeping, Continuous Improvement activities, Professionalism, Ethical and Moral behavior.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Extended working hours may be required.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to regularly lift heavy loads of up to 50#, using proper lifting techniques as outlined in the StoneAge Employee Handbook.
  • Follow all Safety Protocols outlined in the StoneAge Safety Handbook.
  • Familiarity with Water blasting safety standards and protocols is desirable.
