What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Hand position at Stone's Throw Farm?
Stone’s Throw Farm is located less than 100 yards from the ocean and on the shore of Sagg Pond, in Sagaponack, NY.
The farm produces, under organic guidelines, a wide variety of vegetables, an expanding cut flowers program, asparagus and berries.
We have a flock of about 40 chickens and 15 ducks and geese for egg production
Stone’s Throw Farm runs a 30 member CSA program, sells at the Sag Harbor's farmer's market and to a few local restaurant accounts along with florists and floral designers.
General duties will include transplanting, weeding, harvesting produce, berries and flowers, washing and packing farm produce, ladscaping and more.
Requirements:
- A positive attitude, good spirit and a strong work ethic
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform repetitive physical tasks in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to work efficiently independently, and cooperatively as a member of a small team.
- Attentive to detail and passionate about maintaining order, cleanliness and overall beauty of the farm
- One season prior farming experience or comparable physical outdoor experience preferred
Work Schedule:
- Position Duration: mid May - mid September(Flexible), must commit to minimum 6 weeks
- Flexible, minimum 3-4 days per week
