Construction Field Assistant - Dothan, AL area

The Field Assistant works with the Superintendent for each applicable subdivision to assist with completing day-to-day operations including, without limitation, ensuring that job sites and subdivisions are kept clean, organized, and presentable at all times. The Field Assistant is also responsible for aiding the Foreman with the punch out process for homes nearing completion. The Field Assistant’s priority schedule will be provided by the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Without limiting the foregoing, the Field Assistant’s key job responsibilities include the following:

· The Field Assistant shall conduct daily inspections of each active jobsite, vacant lot, conex area, and all entrances to each subdivision to which the Field Assistant is assigned to ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentability (including, without limitation, by ensuring the removal of all trash and debris, sweeping houses, and organizing materials).

· The Field Assistant is responsible for minor Best Management Practices (BMPs) including, without limitation, by maintaining silt fences, cleaning streets and inlets, and addressing minor erosion issues when needed.

· During the growing season, the Field Assistant shall ensure that all sod, grass, and plants are appropriately watered and maintained at all times until closing.

· Without limiting the foregoing, the Field Assistant is responsible for daily monitoring of areas covered by installed irrigation systems (where applicable) to ensure proper timing and functionality. In areas without installed irrigation systems, the Field Assistant is responsible for placing, monitoring, and moving (as appropriate) hoses and portable sprinkler systems to ensure proper watering occurs.

· The Field Assistant must immediately notify the site Foreman and/or Superintendent of any observed jobsite violations (for example: eating, drinking, and/or smoking on a job site, or the failure to maintain a clean jobsite and remove all trash and debris).

· The Field Assistant is responsible for placing SMB job rules stickers on the window closest to the front door of every home under construction at the time of window installation.

· The Field Assistant shall assist the Foreman during the punch out / close-out process by, among other things, self-performing each of the following on an as-needed basis:

o Pressure washing.

o Exterior cleaning of siding and brick.

o Installing weatherstripping and adjusting doors.

o Cleaning out attic spaces.

· In addition to the foregoing, the Field Assistant is responsible for completing all additional tasks assigned by a Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager, or Division President.

Qualification Requirements:

· High School diploma or equivalent preferred

· 2 years of experience in the construction or similar industry preferred

· Adequate computer skills required

· Valid driver license required

Physical Requirements - The Field Assistant position is a physically demanding position that requires the following:

· Ability to occasionally stand, walk, crawl, climb, reach, bend, kneel, balance, stoop, or sit up for more than eight hours a day.

· Ability to drive during or most of the work shift from location to location

· Repetitive use of hands in a construction environment; working with building materials, feeling or reaching for objects and tools

· Hearing and talking with several people during or most of the entire work shift

· The use of varying vision abilities such as close vision, peripheral, depth and in adjusting focus.

· Be able to lift and carry items of up to 50 pounds

· Being able to tolerate outdoor temperature changes and various weather conditions

· Being able to move around in the work area independently or without external help
