What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Advocate/Resource Coordinator position at Stone-Hayes Center for Independent Living?
We are seeking a passionate Independent Living Advocate/Resource Coordinator to help individuals with disabilities build the skills, confidence, and connections they need to achieve their goals. This role combines direct consumer support with community outreach and advocacy.
What you'll do:
- Provide independent living skills training and peer support.
- Assist consumers in developing and reaching their personal goals.
- Advocate with and for individuals on accessibility, housing, employment, and related issues.
- Connect people with disability-related resources and referrals.
- Recruit, train, and support peer counselors.
- Represent the Center at community events and presentations.
What we're looking for:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations; disability-related experience a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems.
- Knowledge of disability laws and resources (or ability to learn quickly).

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.90 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
