Role purpose
Lead and verify sanitation execution across the facility. Own SSOP compliance, pre-operational readiness, chemical control, and sanitation training. Protect food safety, quality, and uptime.

- Sanitation completes the Master Sanitation Schedule on time, every time.
- Sanitation documentation is accurate, complete, and audit-ready.

Key responsibilities
Daily execution and leadership
- Plan and run each sanitation shift. Assign labor by zone and priority.
- Confirm proper cleaning, rinsing, and sanitizing steps per SSOPs.
- Lead changeovers, allergen cleans, and deep cleans per schedule.
- Verify tools, hoses, foaming units, drains, and sanitation rooms are organized and ready.
Pre-op and verification
- Conduct or support pre-op inspections with QA.
- Verify corrective actions when pre-op findings occur. Re-clean and re-inspect fast.
- Use verification tools as required, including ATP, allergen swabs, visual standards, and micro-sampling support.
Programs and compliance
- Maintain and execute the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Control chemical usage, concentration targets, and titration checks where applicable.
- Ensure GMP compliance, including hygienic practices, tool control, and zoning controls.
- Support SQF, FSMA, and customer audit readiness in sanitation scope.
People and training
- Train sanitation staff on SSOPs, chemical safety, PPE, lockout tagout basics, confined space awareness where applicable, and equipment protection.
- Coach performance in real time. Document issues. Escalate repeat problems.
- Build a culture of urgency, pride, and ownership.
Safety and equipment protection
- Enforce PPE and safe chemical handling at all times.
- Verify equipment is locked out and protected prior to cleaning.
- Prevent damage to belts, bearings, motors, sensors, and electrical panels during cleaning.
Communication and reporting
- Communicate sanitation status, risks, and downtime impacts to Operations and QA.
- Complete end-of-shift reporting. Include areas completed, exceptions, issues, and follow-ups.
Decision rights and authority
- Stop a start-up if sanitation standards are not met.
- Reassign labor to protect pre-op readiness.
- Request maintenance support for sanitation-related equipment issues.
- Escalate staffing gaps or production risk immediately.
SG Bakery is hiring a Sanitation Supervisor to lead our sanitation team and protect food safety every day. You will run sanitation execution, verify results, and partner with QA and Operations to start production on time.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications
- 2 plus years supervising sanitation in food manufacturing or high-care environments.
- Strong working knowledge of SSOPs, chemical controls, and sanitation verification.
- Able to lead a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong documentation skills. You write clearly and consistently.
- Comfortable using basic software, tablets, and digital forms.
Preferred qualifications
- Bakery or ready-to-eat experience.
- Experience supporting SQF or GFSI audits.
- Bilingual English and Spanish.
Physical and work environment demands
- Standing and walking for long periods.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance as needed.
- Working in wet, hot, and cold environments.
- Using chemicals with required PPE.
- Working around moving equipment with lockout requirements.
Performance expectations, first 90 days
- Week 1 to 2: Learn zones, SSOPs, chemical program, and pre-op standards. Run shift with support.
- Day 30: Own labor plan, shift execution, and end of shift reporting with minimal oversight.
- Day 60: Improve pre-op pass rate and reduce repeat findings. Close documentation gaps.
- Day 90: Hit schedule completion targets. Train and certify team members on critical SSOPs.
