Stone Grindz Chocolate
Job Title: Chocolate Production Assistant
Company: Stone Grindz Chocolate
Location: Chandler, AZ 85224 (W Temple St)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17 – $19/hr (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Tuesday – Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Stone Grindz Chocolate is a small-batch, bean-to-bar craft chocolate company based in Chandler, AZ. We roast cacao beans, grind them into chocolate, and produce handcrafted chocolate bars and truffles — all under one roof. We're looking for a high-energy, detail-driven Chocolate Production Assistant to join our small team.
This is a hands-on production role. You'll be on your feet, moving fast, and switching between tasks constantly. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in doing physical work with precision, this is for you.
Important note: We operate out of a home-based production facility. This is a small business with a unique, close-knit environment — not a corporate warehouse. You should be comfortable with and excited about that kind of setting.
What you'll do
Monday — Cacao Roasting (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
- Roast 200lbs of cacao beans for the week's production
Tuesday through Friday — Production (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, variable)
- Fill chocolate bar molds at a fast pace — 300 molds per day
- Fill truffle molds — 30 per day
- Wrap finished chocolate bars in between cooling cycles
- Lift and pour 30–40 lb hotel pans of melted chocolate into warming tanks
- Maintain a clean, organized production space
- Track production counts and stay on top of daily numbers
- Always stay busy — when one task is in a waiting period, you move to the next
End times vary based on production volume. Some days wrap up around 1:00 PM, others may extend to 4:00 PM. This is a task-based role — when the work is done, the day is done.
What we're looking for
- High energy and a strong work ethic — you don't wait to be told what to do next
- Physically capable of standing for full shifts, repetitive hand work, and lifting 30–40 lbs regularly
- Extremely detail-oriented — accurate counts, consistent quality, nothing sloppy
- Able to work at a fast, sustained pace without sacrificing precision
- Comfortable with a small-business environment where you'll wear multiple hats
- Reliable and consistent — you show up on time, every time
- Well-groomed and professional in appearance (food production environment)
Requirements
- Must be able to lift 30–40 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
- Must obtain a Maricopa County Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire (online, takes ~90 minutes, we'll cover the cost)
- Must be comfortable working in a home-based production facility
- Must have reliable transportation to Chandler, AZ 85224
Nice to have (not required)
- Prior experience in food production, commercial kitchens, or manufacturing
- Familiarity with chocolate, confections, or small-batch food production
What's in it for you
- Learn a real craft — you'll eventually be trained to actually make chocolate from bean to bar, including roasting, grinding, and tempering. This isn't just a packaging job.
- Free and discounted chocolate — you're working with it every day, you should enjoy it
- Small team, real impact — your work directly shapes the product that goes out the door
- Flexible task-based schedule — shorter days when production is light, no unnecessary clock-watching
About the hours
This is a part-time position averaging approximately 27 hours per week. The schedule is Monday 2–5 PM and Tuesday–Friday 9 AM–3 PM, with some variability based on production needs.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
Application Question(s):
- This role requires lifting 30–40 lb pans of melted chocolate repeatedly throughout each shift and staying on your feet the entire day at a fast pace. Are you physically able and willing to do this consistently?
- A typical day involves filling 300 chocolate bar molds at a fast pace, wrapping bars during cooling cycles, and filling 30 truffle molds — all with zero downtime. Tell us about a time you had to maintain fast, physical work while staying detail-oriented. What excites you about eventually learning to make chocolate from bean to bar?
- Are you comfortable working in a home-based production facility? This is not a commercial kitchen or warehouse — it's a small-batch craft chocolate operation run out of a home.
