What are the responsibilities and job description for the Correctional Officer position at Stone County Regional Correctional Facility?
Total Compensation (wages benefits): approx. $59,444 per year
Responsibilities:
- Maintain security and order within the correctional facility
- Supervise and monitor inmates' activities, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations
- Conduct searches of inmates, cells, and common areas for contraband
- Respond to emergencies, including fights, medical incidents, and fires
- Enforce disciplinary actions as necessary
- Write detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and facility conditions
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify potential security risks
- Operate CCTV systems to monitor inmate activity
Qualifications:
- Pass physical
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Law enforcement or military experience preferred
- Excellent conflict management skills- Must be able to pass a physical fitness test
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and inmate interactions
