Schedule Overview:
DSPs work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the persons served in program services. The environment may be fast-paced with interruptions, distractions, and deadlines. DSPs need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs or activities. Depending on the needs of the individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting, or moving items up to 50 lbs., walking or standing for extended periods of time, or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions.

Schedule Overview:
- Residential shifts: 3pm-11pm; 11pm-7am (and 7a-3p Saturday/Sundays)
- Location: Stone, Taney, and Christian counties in SW Missouri (Must be willing and able to work where SCDDB provides services.)
- Safely supporting adults with developmental disabilities in group and 1:1 activities
- Helping with daily living skills (meals, hygiene, communication)
- Encouraging socialization and participation in community outings
- Documenting daily progress and behaviors (SCDDB provides documentation training)
- Following care plans and safety protocols
- Arts & crafts, cooking, games, music
- Light exercise, nature walks, gardening
- Skill-building workshops (like hygiene, budgeting, or technology)
- You’re patient, kind, and supportive
- You stay calm under pressure and follow directions
- You’re comfortable helping others with protective underwear, assisting with mobility, or calming anxious behaviors
- You are dependable
- You have good communication skills
- Supporting someone who is nonverbal or has behaviors that challenge
- Physical demands: standing, lifting, assisting with mobility
- Staying engaged all day

- Paid training for CPR/1st Aid Certification, Medication Administration, Positive Behavior Support Training.
- Excellent pay and mileage reimbursement.
- PTO accrual begins immediately if working average 30 hours/weekly.

- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to perform each essential duty and responsibility.
- Class E Driver's License
- Listen carefully and communicate respectfully and clearly with the persons served that you support using person-first language.
- Support individual choice, understanding and learning new skills.
- Support persons served with daily living skills and individual support needs.
- Assist in planning and structuring activities.
- Encourage healthy behaviors (both physical and mental).
- Understand and follow supports for optimal health.
- Administer medications accurately and reliably.
- Ensure that persons served are free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- Provide safeguards and appropriate leadership skills in challenging situations.
- Use positive behavioral techniques to avoid challenging situations and promote respect and dignity.
- Be a safe and conscientious driver.
- Representing SCDDB in a positive manner while upholding agency values.
- Complete duties assigned by supervisor or designee.
