What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Service Advisor/Writer position at Stoltzfus Auto Care Center?
Automotive Service Advisor
Stoltzfus Auto Care Center - Warsaw, NY
$75,000–$100,000 Annual Earning Potential
Monday–Friday, No Weekends
At Stoltzfus Auto Care Center, the day starts with the entire team around the table. Before the first customer arrives, they're talking through yesterday's wins, what could have gone better, customer feedback, and what needs to happen to make today successful. Everyone has a chance to contribute, from the technicians in the bays to the people working with customers up front.
That kind of communication matters here. With three technicians, seven bays, and a reputation built around accurate diagnostics, there's a lot happening behind the scenes. We are looking for a Service Advisor who can turn all that technical work into conversations that customers understand, appreciate, and feel confident saying yes to.
We're looking for someone who enjoys the sales side of service advising. Someone who gets excited when a technician sends over a detailed inspection because they see an opportunity to help the customer, earn their trust, and close the sale.
What Makes Stoltzfus Different?
About 85% of our customers are returning customers. You'll have opportunities to get to know the people walking through the door, remember their names, and build relationships that go beyond a single repair visit.
Our team takes pride in doing things right. Accurate diagnostics and quality repairs are a major focus, and most months our comeback rate is below 2%. That gives you something valuable when you're presenting repairs: confidence in the work you're recommending.
The owner is involved in the day-to-day operation, not sitting in an office somewhere removed from the business. You'll see him working alongside the team, participating in morning discussions, and making time for individual conversations about your performance, goals, and concerns.
And while everyone takes their work seriously, there's time to enjoy each other's company. Wednesday lunches are on the shop, and the team gets together outside of work for things like summer cookouts, fishing trips, and a Christmas social.
The Opportunity
This is a sales-focused service advisor position where your ability to communicate, connect with customers, and follow through will make a direct difference in your earnings.
On any given day, you'll be:
- Greeting customers, learning what's going on with their vehicles, and making them feel comfortable from the first conversation.
- Working with technicians to understand inspection results, recommended repairs, and diagnostic findings.
- Presenting estimates confidently, explaining the value of repairs, and helping customers make informed decisions.
- Handling price objections and asking for the sale without making customers feel pressured.
- Keeping repair orders, customer notes, and communication accurate and organized.
- Staying on top of the day's schedule, especially when afternoons get busy and priorities change.
Our shop uses Tekmetric for shop management and digital vehicle inspections.
Who Will Do Well Here?
You don't necessarily need years of service advisor experience to succeed here. We're open to someone with a strong customer service or sales background who understands automotive basics and is excited to build a career in the industry.
What matters most is how you approach people and your work.
You're likely a great fit if you:
- Enjoy selling and take pride in reaching goals.
- Know how to build rapport, earn trust, and make customers feel welcome.
- Can explain technical information in everyday language.
- Stay positive and professional when things get busy.
- Are confident discussing pricing and overcoming objections.
- Pay attention to the details and follow through on what you promise.
- Appreciate a workplace that values honesty, respectful communication, and doing quality work.
Experience in an independent repair shop, dealership, tire shop, or automotive service environment would be valuable. Experience in retail sales or management can also translate well.
Pay, Schedule & Benefits

Ready for Something More?
Stoltzfus Auto Care Center is looking for someone who wants more than a job answering phones and writing estimates. We want someone who enjoys connecting with customers, takes ownership of their results, and gets real satisfaction from turning a great customer conversation into a successful sale.
