What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at Stolle Machinery Company?
JOB SUMMARY (the purpose and general nature of the job):
The painter is responsible for preparing various electrical control panels, consoles, and junction boxes to be sprayed with wet paint. The painter is also responsible for moving the equipment to the designated painting areas. A customer may also request custom color(s).
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:
- Operates surface preparation equipment and prepares surfaces properly for painting.
- Tape off and masks parts properly. Applies paint consistently, safely and without defect.
- Operates all necessary equipment in the paint department including surface preparation equipment, spray booth and spray guns.
- Prioritizes paint jobs to meet the needs of the assembly lines.
- Maintains all necessary records for the paint department.
- Fills out necessary documentation and ensures products are labeled properly and legibly.
- Cleans and maintains equipment according to proper procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimal requirements for education, knowledge, and experience:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have relevant work experience.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively (in written or verbal format) with both internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates a team player mentality, which includes being self-motivated, accepting responsibility for one’s work and productivity, completing assigned action items in a timely manner, and participating as a team member of the department with a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work in a team environment, which includes communicating effectively with team members and support staff, being self-motivated, accepting responsibility for one’s own work, and actively participating as a team member in a proactive manner.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification; ability to drive forklift.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
- Work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Must operate in a safe, responsible manner, which respects the environment and the health of Stolle employees, customers, and the communities in which Stolle operates. At no time should work be performed in a manner which compromises environmental, health or safety values.
- Must be able to hold a 3-pound spray gun for 4-8 hours.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
