JOB SUMMARY
Sales of goods and/or services, the selling of which requires a technical background equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in the Engineering field or equivalent work experience in container field. Qualified candidates will encompass excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to plan, direct, control and coordinate multiple global activities simultaneously. Knowledge of project planning and management procedures, practices and techniques. In addition, a strong foundation in statistics, engineering, project planning and financial analysis, communications and basic qualitative /quantitative evaluation is preferred. May be assigned to lead or manage others.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:
- Collaborate with Sales and Account Management teams to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products and to provide sales support.
- Steer Stolle product offering to satisfy the voice of the customer. Ensure Engineering is aware of customer and industry demands.
- Detail and construct quotes for OEM pieces of equipment along with major retrofits.
- Sell products requiring extensive technical expertise and support for installation and use, such as material handling equipment, numerical-control machinery and computer systems.
- Plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs.
- Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements.
- Bridge new technologies with SATO and Engineering.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain products or services to customers and prospective customers.
- Review sales contracts for products or services with Account Managers
- Develop, present or respond to proposals for specific customer requirements, including request for proposal responses and industry-specific solutions.
- Visit prospective buyers as required by Account Managers at commercial, industrial, or other establishments to show samples or catalogs, and to inform them about product pricing, availability, and advantages.
- Research and identify potential customers for products or services.
- Support development of project schedules and timelines for global OEM projects. Monitoring schedule progress through the lifecycle.
- Participate in cross-project planning to resolve conflicts in project priorities, resourcing, schedule and scope.
- Support Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning activities and team meetings as required.
- Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of projects with a technology bias, with a clear focus on risk management and cross-functional stakeholder communication in a fast-growing and dynamic environment.
- Monitor project changes and advise updated schedules as agreed with sales, engineering and customers.
- Take ownership and independent actions to solve problems impacting project timelines.
- Liaise with management at all levels of the business, managing their expectations for project delivery, escalating project issues, risks, and making recommendations to senior leadership as appropriate.
- Contact new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.
- Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, or credit terms.
- Generate customer visit reports and detailed action item list for each customer visit.
- Quote prices, credit terms, or other bid specifications.
- Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers' needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
- Negotiate prices or terms of sales or service agreements.
- Maintain customer records, using automated systems.
- Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
- Prepare sales contracts for orders obtained and submit orders for processing.
- Select the correct products or assist customers in making product selections, based on customers' needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies or marketing information.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Minimum requirements for education, knowledge and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Engineering or Marketing.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in can making industry.
- Strong foundation in statistics, project planning and analysis, communications and basic qualitative/quantitative evaluation is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Estimated travel is 25% or as required. May be requested travel internationally.
