What are the responsibilities and job description for the OD/ID Precision Grinder Operator-Programmer position at Stolle Machinery Company - USA?
Own the Grind: Your Impact
Step into a role where precision rules. If you thrive on building programs from prints and steering OD/ID grinding operations to sub-thousandth accuracy, this is your arena.
What You’ll Own
- End-to-end CNC OD/ID grinding: programming, setup, and operation using G & M code with deep GD&T fluency.
- Controls: Put your Fanuc, OSP5000 Okuma, and Heidenhain knowledge to work (preference for candidates experienced on these platforms).
- Tolerance mastery: Maintain and verify 0.0001 in. tolerances with precision measurement—micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, templates, and fixtures.
- Setup excellence: Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces with care and repeatability.
- Process control: Start machines, monitor operation, and record data; adjust offsets, feeds, and speeds as conditions change.
- Tooling lifecycle: Detect dull tools or vibration, replace wheels and cutters, and stabilize the process for consistent output.
- Connectivity: Transfer programs from servers to CNC modules via network links; insert control instructions and verify program integrity.
- Quality focus: Inspect finished parts and segregate any defects (e.g., chipped edges, marred surfaces) by defect category.
- Coolant and lube: Confirm parts are properly lubricated and cooled throughout the run.
- Planning: Read blueprints and program specs to set operation order, sequences, and final dimensions.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proficient in GD&T, CNC programming, CNC tooling, G-code, M-code.
- Strong mechanical aptitude: machine design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Production and processing acumen: materials, quality control, costs, throughput optimization.
- Math you actually use: trigonometry, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics.
