Indoor Environmental Quality / Mold Specialist

Stokes Environmental Associates is seeking an Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)Specialist to join our Norfolk-based environmental consulting team.
This position will work alongside our senior environmental professionals on projects involving indoor air quality, mold, moisture intrusion, microbial contamination, building assessments, and related industrial hygiene services.
Responsibilities
- Perform IEQ/IAQ and mold-related site inspections
- Assess moisture intrusion, water damage, humidity, ventilation, and microbial growth concerns
- Collect air, surface, bulk, moisture, and related environmental samples
- Use field equipment such as moisture meters, hygrometers, sampling pumps, and other IEQ/industrial hygiene instruments
- Document site conditions through notes, photographs, drawings, and chain-of-custody forms
- Assist with mold remediation protocols, monitoring, and clearance inspections
- Coordinate with clients, property managers, contractors, laboratories, and internal staff
- Prepare clear, professional reports
- Support related environmental and industrial hygiene projects as needed
Qualifications
- 2 years experience in performing IEQ/IAQ, industrial hygiene inspections, microbial investigations, environmental consulting, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document field conditions accurately
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple assignments
- Comfortable working in commercial buildings, residences, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms, and other varied environments.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred
- CIEC/CIE, CIAQM, or relevant certification
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or HAZWOPER training
- Experience writing reports, remediation scopes, or clearance documentation
- Experience with asbestos, lead, silica, nuisance dust, or broader industrial hygiene sampling
- Degree in environmental science, biology, building science, industrial hygiene, or related field

Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
Pay: $23.00 - $33.00 per hour
