Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursing staff across a department, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Coordinate daily operations, including staffing schedules, resource allocation, and workflow optimization to meet patient needs efficiently.
- Oversee patient assessments, medical documentation, and care planning, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate medical records management.
- Implement evidence-based practices by utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Point Click Care to enhance documentation accuracy and accessibility.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
- Conduct regular staff performance evaluations, provide coaching and mentorship, and promote professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards including infection control protocols, sterile processing techniques, and emergency response procedures such as airway management and ventilator support.
Experience
- Proven leadership experience in nurse management within Skilled Nursing Facility setting including supervision of multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong background in medical-surgical nursing, emergency medicine, geriatrics—including dementia care—and behavioral health environments.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Point Click Care, Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; proficiency in ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of complex clinical procedures such as catheterization, phlebotomy, IV insertion/infusion therapy, medication administration, and tube feeding management.
- Familiarity with specialized areas including dialysis support and assisted living or long-term care facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage case reviews, utilization management processes like DRG coding for billing accuracy, discharge planning, and compliance with NCQA standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively while maintaining a focus on patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
